March 23, 2009

Well here I go again. I thought that I would send in a l/o for the next dare challenge on No 8 Wired. They put up a new dare every couple of weeks so there is something for everyone I guess. This fornights dare was to use black and white AND color photo’s. I did this l/o a few months ago now I  guess, but I love how my girl looks in these photo’s.

I do have an excuse!!!

August 14, 2008

Hello all,

Well I guess you may have been wondering where I have been. I do have the odd reason why I have not been here to update my blog.

The chicken pox saga continued…

The Saturday before school went back the girls started their adventure of the chicken pox.

They both got it on the same day, and they both started feeling better on the same day. I guess twins do do things the same!!! lol.

Once we saw how much the girls were absolutely covered in them, we realised just how easily Aidan got away with it. He only had a dozen or so on his back, and when you see the girls photo’s that I am about to put in, you will see that they were suffering a lot more.

I think the photo’s say it all, so here we go. I can hear the awwwwwwwwwwwww’s from here.

Alyssa feeling like crap.

The discomfort is quite obvious

My beautiful Caitlin.

Well there you go folks. One of the reasons why this blog has become secondary to all other things. I have managed to do some scrapping though, and hopefully I will get those onto here sooner than later.

I have started an album for my foster parents 25th Wedding Anniversary later on this month. I had really get back into it, as the party is on the 23rd, and I still have a number of pages to do yet.

As some of you know, I broke my leg last March, 2007, on my son’s Thomas the tank engine, jig saw puzzle, and they ended up a plate and screws into it, as the silly thing did not want to heal on it’s own, so last year I was in a plaster or a boot from March until August last year when they finally decided to opearte and fix it up. It was so nice, once that had healed to actually be able to walk around with out any type of assistance.

I had a follow up visit with the specialist to see how things were coming along, and the xrays showed that all was finally healed and that the plate and screws would have to come out, as it was sticking out from a the bone a bit, and causing quite a bit of discomfort. If it wasn’t then they would have just left things alone and I would have been fine.

Any way, they took them out last Friday, which of course just happened to be the day before, I was planning on having the girls 3rd birthday party. Oh well, we just ended up having a small family affair. There is always next year I guess. So I am now up and about on crutches again for a little while, and hubby had to take some time off work to help with the kids.

I think he prefers to go to work somehow as the stress of the kids continually asking for something, has appeared to have gotten on his nerves…lol. Now he knows how I feel.

That’s it for now, and I will try and get those other photo’s up, sooner than later.

Ciao.

July challenge for Inkurable Stampers

July 17, 2008

This is this months challenge for the Inkurable Stampers site.

Here is my girl Alysaa. Her and her twin sister will be 3 next month, and I thought that these images captured the innocence of youth, and how unfortunately, we all know it does not last.

The flourished stamp underneath the word innocence is a beautiful specimen from Florentine at Stampit.

I also flourished the corner with cardstock and bling. Gotta love that bling.

Here is a close up of the embossed stamp that I used.

Materials:

Cardstock – Bo Bunny Press
Bling and Rub ons – Kaiser Scrapbook
Chipboard embellishments – Bella painted with acrylic paint
Flourish stamp under the word innocence – Florentine by stampit
Embossed with silver, brand unknown sorry.

The Joy’s of Having Children !!!!

July 6, 2008

Well basically this is just going to be one of those quick little blog’s so that I can have a bit of a moan….Sorry in advance.

First of all Wednesday, Alyssa, Caitlin and myself went on our usual play date to Yvette’shouse, where the kids usually have a ball with Isaac, when they are not all trying to tell each other what to do!!! I got an schedule alarm on my cell phone at 10.45am, reminding me that I had a doctors appointment at 11.15am. Which me being me, had forgotten all about. Which is why I put all of my appointments into my phone.

Yvette being the lovely lady that she is offered to watch the girls while I popped out to the doctor, which was fantastic, and then I remembered that my son finished school at 1pm that day, due to school interviews. So, I went to my appointment, went and picked up some bit’s and pieces for some lunch at Yvette’s house, and then went and picked up my boy from school and then back to Yvette’s.

Went we got back there, little Caitlin was laying on the floor not doing much at all. She felt quite warm and I thought, “here we go”.

We went home and I just kept an eye on my girl. She decided that it was time that she should give up on the food for now, and just concentrate on doing absolutely nothing at all apart from sleep, or just lay there with no interest in anything, except me.

In the morning things took a turn for the worse. Her temperature was up, measured at 39.2C, so thought that it was time to take her to the good ol’ doctor herself. Temp was still up when we were there, and she was still as limp as old lettuce. G.P was not impressed so sent us up to the hospital.

My hubby is at work and can not come home due to being short staffed. Alyssa, Caitlin’s twin was really SH***Y due to minimal sleep and having a chest infection of her own (currently on antibiotics for that). It was 1pm, so Aidan would have to be picked up from school in a couple of hours, and we all know what the waiting is like in the hospitals. What the hell was I going to do????

That’s when my good friend Yvette came to the rescue again. I quickly rung her, telling her what was going on, dropped Alyssa off at her house, who was asleep by the time we got there, and then she organised her sister, Antoinette (as her sons go to the same school as mine) to pick Aidan up and take him to Yvette’s house as well.

In the mean time, poor Caitlin had blood taken, prodded and poked. Still very lethargic, interested only in doing nothing. X-ray’s done of her chest and her abdomen. Admitted into the children’s ward where we stayed the night, under the assumption that she could possibly have appendicitis or a blocked bowel. Of course not drinking, she was not weeing, so they had to insert a catheter in, to drain off some urine just to ensure that it was not a urine infection, which they did about 3am as that was when the doctor was available to do it. By this stage she was on Intravenous fluids to help maintain her hydration, and she was Nil By Mouth, in case she had to go into surgery.

Then the sun came up, with very minimal amount of sleep by either of us, as the IV machine went off every hour, nurses coming in to check her temperature regularly, which was still nicely sitting around 39C, all of the results were back which showed in her blood that yes she did have an infection some where, but they did not know where. So with clear x-rays, urine, and most of her bloods, they sent us home calling it the word I hate, a VIRUS.

She was still very lethargic, but we went home, and were luckily enough to get a decent amount of sleep, and when the sun rose on Saturday, she was looking a bit brighter and started to eat, drink, and be on the mend again.

While that was going on, Aidan came to me and said “Mum, I have a sore on my head”. Sure enough I had a look, and what I could see was a small red bump, and a bit tender to touch. Ok I said, we will keep an eye on that. Today, which is Sunday, he is still complaining about the bump on his head, so I have another look, and it is now pussy and very tender, and so I searched his body and found that yes a few more spots have shown up. Instantly I think, chickenpox. I say to my hubby, well, I am off to the doctor again to take Aidan, and low and behold the diagnoses came back CHICKENPOX. Just waiting for the twins to get it now, and then our school holidays will be complete, of basically being housebound, as no one will want us to visit. Joy oh joy oh joy.

    I have finished now. Goodnight.

Everyone, Everywhere, Has A Story by Parkland School

June 19, 2008

Wow, what an awesome night. Our 5 year old and the rest of his school (310 of them) were all in a school production last night at the Regent here in Palmerston North. It was a fantastic production, and the kids seem to be having a great time with it as well.

Aidan and the rest of his class were Buzzy Bee’s, and boy were they CUTE. Here are some cute pic’s.

How cute are they?????

All of the different age groups and classes had a turn on stage singing and dancing to various songs. It was all very well done. Big Thanks to Lorraine Carr, who is not only Aidan’s teacher, but the fabulous producer/director. How they get all of those kids to do all of that, is quite an astounding thing really.

I will leave you with one last thing. A pic of Mr Marriot the principal, thanking all of the appropriate people and the whole school having a great time.Enjoy!!!

Me and My Family

March 27, 2008

    Well, where does one start???

Well of course there is me, Adele. I am 33years old and a mother of 3.  I am a nurse by trade, but have of course been a full time mum for the past 6 or so years. Possibly go back to nursing at some stage, but I would really prefer to be a photographer!!!

                               Caitlin

That is what I love doing most of all. I love to capture things and keep those memories forever. I like it when the photo comes out just right, and you feel all happy inside that it did.

We are animal lovers. We have a cat who is 16 but still going strong. Her name is Mogs. Also until just recently, we had a golden labrador who’s name was Amber. she was only 7years old, but had to unfortunately be put down due to the dreaded cancer. She will be missed dreadfully, but she will always be with us in our hearts and in our minds.

My husband Michael is really the love of my life. You know when you say “through sickness and in health” when you get married? Well he really has had his share of my sickness!! Poor thing. It’s kind of a joke now, that he actually saves his holidays from work up for my next catastrophe. What can I say???

We live in the Manawatu, and our son Aidan just started school at the beginning of the year. He seems to be really enjoying it, which is great. The girls, Alyssa and Caitlin will be three in August, so they will be at home with me for a few months yet before kindergarten starts for them. Alyssa is definately the dominant twin. Everything has to be her way, and no one will get in her way of what she wants. She is just how Aidan use to be when he was that age.

Well that is us in a nut shell, but I guess as I learn what I am actually doing on this site, then I will be able to post more things as they come to hand.
